As a development officer and in particular a gift planning officer, having a sense of a donor’s financial framework and asset picture form the basis for a successful cultivation strategy and proposing the most advantageous planned gift vehicles. This webinar will give you a basic understanding of what types of assets donors own so you can be a gift asset detective who uncovers asset information and can use it to effectively secure planned gifts. CFRE: Full participation in How to Be a Gift Asset Detective is applicable for 1 point in Category 1.B -Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification Denise Chan Gans, Executive Director, Gift Planning, University of Chicago Denise Chan Gans is Executive Director of the Office of Gift Planning at the University of Chicago, where she has worked for over 20 years. She oversees a team dedicated to supporting, administering and stewarding bequests, gift annuities and charitable trusts for the entire University, including its professional schools and medical center. The Office of Gift Planning also specializes in gifts of real estate, gifts in kind and gifts of complex assets. In her role as Executive Director, Denise works closely with individual donors and their advisors to structure charitable gifts in a manner that will take advantage of tax benefits, complement financial and estate planning and maximize the ultimate impact of a gift.
