Deferred Gift Stewardship

SUMMARY
James Allan, executive director of planned giving and special gifts at the Art Institute of Chicago, will discuss the ins, the outs, and the importance of stewarding revocable gifts. James will touch on different types of revocable gifts and offer basic tips to keep donors engaged and keep your institution in their estate plans.

Motivations for Giving

SUMMARY
This presentation will review recent research that explores why people donate to charity, and why they often donate in inefficient ways. We will discuss how emotions can motivate giving, but also lead to predictable distortions in giving outcomes and propose interventions that capitalize on donors emotional impulses, while also directing them towards the greatest good.

This presentation will cover entry points for intergenerational philanthropic conversations, ideas on how to involve family members and lay out a path to help you influence the next generation of donors.
