    GENERAL SUMMARY

     

     

    The Development Coordinator reports to the Senior Director, Principal Gifts and will assist in the day-to-day activities related to annual major gifts, foundation, grants and planned giving (Principal Gifts team). This position will also provide administrative support to the broader Development Department.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

     

    • Assist the Senior Director, Principal Gifts with activities related to the needs of the Principal Gifts team, Development department and Lincoln Park Zoo’s senior executive leadership.
    • Assist the Director of Planned Giving with administrative tasks related to the zoo’s planned giving program and recognition program, Heritage Society.
    • Draft correspondence for Principal Gifts donors including, but no limited to: acknowledgements, leadership donor updates, endowment reports and any additional written and design materials.
    • Craft monthly financial and prospect pipeline reports utilizing Raiser’s Edge, the department’s data base system.
    • In conjunction with Development Services, run a weekly financial dashboard of Principal Gifts’ activity; monthly proposal pipeline reports and other financial and data needs for the team.
    • Provide back-up support to Development Services as needed.
    • Provide weekly stewardship call lists for the zoo’s President and CEO and Vice President for Development.
    • Manage the Principal Gifts stewardship calendar and proactively plan for key stewardship engagement opportunities throughout the year.
    • Proof written and design materials as needed.
    • Oversee scheduling donor tours, on-grounds dining and cart reservations for the Development Department.
    • Support Development department directors with additional duties as needed including events, and Board related activities.

     

     

     

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Strong proficiency with general office software programs, esp. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). 
    • Knowledge of fundraising-specific Raiser’s Edge preferred.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail essential.
    • Strong administrative skills required. 
    • Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, zoo visitors and general public.
    • Candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
    • Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

     

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s degree preferred.

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Three or more years’ experience in Development or corporate environment preferred.

    Strong proficiency with software systems

     

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time for events and tours

    Ability to operate and safely drive electric carts

    Ability to work in all weather conditions

     

    Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination

     

    Salary: $40,000/yr
