    Position Summary

    A key member of the Division of Institutional Advancement, the Development Associate – Individual and Planned Giving will provide operational support for Individual and Planned Gift fundraising initiatives at Rosalind Franklin University (RFU). The Development Associate assists in fundraising activities, supports prospect and donor engagement and donor stewardship, and provides project management. The role also supports processes and accountability within the department’s philanthropic activities, including Major/Planned Giving campaigns, donor stewardship and philanthropic engagement. The Development Associate will be relationship-centric, mission-driven, detail- and process-oriented, inquisitive and self-motivated, and a collaborative problem solver in support of the Division of Institutional Advancement’s diverse goals and initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in RFU’s Empowering Scholars Campaign — currently in the quiet phase — to address health equity, advance innovation in research and education and guide philanthropic partnerships to support the aspirations of the university.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide project and prospect management support for Major and Planned Gift Officers.
    • Write/edit correspondence, proposals, support materials and impact reports.
    • Maintain data integrity of records in Raiser’s Edge database with accurate and timely updates to constituent records for contact information, relationships and engagement tracking, as well as assist with coding and loading of information provided by other university departments and advancement colleagues.  
    • Provide project coordination and support for RFU’s Empowering Scholars Campaign (i.e.: support of Scholarship Campaign Leadership Council, written/digital communications, donor event engagement).
    • Prepare prospect profiles, meeting briefings, engagement strategies and reports. 
    • Liaise with Executive Director of Stewardship and team to guide donor services and stewardship for Major Gift donors.
    • Monitor KPI program metrics, fund utilization, pledge fulfillment.
    • Provide travel coordination for and logistical support for the Individual and Planned Gifts team.
    • Contribute to the overall success of the Division of Institutional Advancement by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
    • Work related experience with project management, fundraising, written/digital communications, and constituent relationship management software.
    • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
    • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

    Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, including capacity to manage and prioritize competing projects and complete assignments under deadlines. 
    • Solution-oriented approach, including the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and demonstrated willingness to take initiative.  
    • Excellent judgment and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. 
    • Adeptness at learning new digital platforms and donor database applications used to support our Institutional Advancement operations, including Raiser’s Edge, GiveCampus, ThankView, and EventSquid.

    Typical Physical Demands & Working Conditions

    • Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
    • Work is of light physical demand in an office setting (a hybrid of remote and in-person) with duties performed while in stationary positions, or occasionally stooping. Work requires occasional moving of boxes 25 pounds or less. Some evenings, weekends and travel required.
