Marguerite H. Griffin, Northern Trust
Russell V. Kohr Award Recipient
Marguerite H. Griffin is a Senior Vice President at Northern Trust. As Director of Philanthropic Advisory Services, Marguerite is responsible for developing and delivering Northern Trust's philanthropic advisory services to Wealth Management clients. She specializes in managing charitable trusts and private foundations, facilitating family philanthropy retreats, and creating strategic philanthropy plans for multigenerational families. She also advises clients regarding impact investing, international philanthropy, family succession planning, and board governance and risk management for nonprofit organizations.
Marguerite is a respected leader in the Chicago planned giving community. Marguerite is a sought-after speaker in the areas of impact investing, private foundations, family legacy philanthropy and nonprofit board governance. In addition to being an active CCPG member for many years, Marguerite is also an active volunteer, serving on the board of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and as a planned giving advisor with several charitable and cultural institutions across Chicago.
Chuck Van Hecke, Loyola University
Jonathan Heintzelman Service Award Recipient
Chuck Van Hecke is Associate Vice President of Advancement at Loyola University of Chicago. He serves on the Advancement senior leadership team and helps manage programs in principal gifts, gift planning, trustee relations, campaign planning, advancement services and special events. From 2015-2018, Chuck was Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). He was primarily responsible for implementing and managing SAIC’s first-ever comprehensive campaign, which successfully exceeded its goal. From 1998-2014, Chuck held various development positions, including director of planned giving, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He also served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and was on the senior leadership team that led UIC through a successful $675 million comprehensive campaign.
Chuck has been a higher education advancement professional for thirty-one years and considers gift planning to be his fundraising specialty. He is also enrolled part-time in a PhD program at UIC where he is conducting research on factors that influence board member giving to Chicago area nonprofit organizations. Chuck is a longtime member of CCPG and past member of its board of directors. CCPG is proud to honor him for his service to the planned giving community as a leader, volunteer and mentor.
