    Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI) is a 68 year-old network of 26 independent liberal arts and sciences colleges and universities, serving more than 70,000 students.     ACI seeks to hire a full-time Individual Giving Officer to begin Feb. 15, 2021, or sooner, to work in a professional, collaborative, and fun environment. This position reports to the executive director. Graduates of ACI member colleges and universities are encouraged to apply and will be given preference.


    The Individual Giving Officer will focus on:

    • Creating, executing and leading a comprehensive individual cultivation, solicitation and stewardship program for individual donors giving mid-size ($500+) and major gifts ($5,000+)
    • Designing and implementing customized solicitation strategies for non-event revenue
    • Developing and implementing effective strategies to secure gifts from both current donors and qualified prospects
    • Qualifying current and prospective donors to eventually develop an active portfolio of 50-100 individuals for major gifts cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
    • Arranging opportunities for the executive director, trustees, and other volunteers to meet, cultivate, and solicit donors and qualified prospects
    • Ensuring an accurate and timely donor management system


    The ideal candidate should have energy, passion and ideas to achieve financial results and promote and communicate our mission to stakeholders. In addition, the ideal Individual Giving Officer candidate should bring the following skills and experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree
    • Five or more years of professional experience in a successful fundraising environment
    • Proven ability to lead and manage an individual fundraising program focused on managing donor relationships and securing mid-level and major gifts
    • A strong track record of maintaining effective relationships with mid-level and major donors, and volunteers
    • Successful experience in setting up donor meetings and making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies
    • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals and meet deadlines, working both virtually and independently
    • Experience with fundraising software
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with both internal and external constituencies
