WTTW and WFMT - Development Manager

    SUMMARY:  WTTW/Chicago PBS and WFMT/Chicago Classical are seeking a Development Manager. The Development Manager provides administrative support to the major gifts annual team, manages the Major Gift Sustainer and Matching Gifts programs, and assists in managing the portfolio of individuals making gifts to the WFMT Encore Society and WTTW Satellite Council.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Data entry and maintenance for Tessitura database, including individual, vehicle donation, corporate, foundation and government records.
    • Assist with Database Operations, including annual fund prospect lists.
    • Customer service for WTTW Satellite Council and Encore Society members.
    • Actively steward Satellite Council and Encore Society members, including coordinating a calendar of stewardship and cultivation opportunities.
    • Manage and grow Major Gift Sustainer program for donors $1K+.
    • Work with Individual giving team to create and write all materials for individual appeals, including appeal letters, acknowledgments, reply devices, web materials, and brochures.
    • Assist in development department events.
    • Grow the matching gifts program through increased visibility on the WTTW and WFMT websites and e-newsletters; create a more interactive medium on the website.
    • Increase assistance of the annual fund processes to include all WFMT mailings.
    • Manage the acknowledgement process for all WTTW and WFMT $1,000+ donors throughout the year. 
    • Prepare acknowledgment letters for individual, corporate matching gifts, and vehicle donations.
    • Maintain Development record keeping, including paper and electronic filing, as well as entering activities into the Tessitura database.
    • Assist with other development activities as necessary.

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
    • Ability to handle detailed work with accuracy.
    • Excellent computer skills including Tessitura, Word, and Excel.
    • Ability to schedule and perform multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Ability to handle matters of a confidential nature.
    • Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
    • Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  3+ years’ experience in Development. Computer and database management, Tessitura experience a plus. Experience with spreadsheets and mail merge. Data entry and customer service experience in a non-profit environment.

    EDUCATION:  College degree preferred.
