    Senior Planned Giving Officer 

    The Archdiocese of Chicago serves more than 2 million Catholics in Cook and Lake Counties in Northeastern Illinois. The Senior Planned Giving Officer will empower the Archdiocese to maintain and expand its spiritual and financial commitment to serve individual, parish, and ministry needs. 

    Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Planned Giving Officer will coordinate efforts of Development staff to secure major and deferred gifts, in service to Donors’ intentions.

     Job Description:

    • Coordinate and advance programs to secure gifts through Bequests, Gift Annuities and other Life Income instruments.
    • Assist Chief Development Officer in efforts to increase levels of annual, capital, and endowment program funds
    • Review and update current Planned Giving documents, including Gift Acceptance Policy, Gift Annuity Application, Archdiocesan Disclosure Statement
    • Maintain and establish relationships with pastors, parish and ministry leadership across the Archdiocese
    • Conduct informational seminars to promote philanthropy within the Archdiocese
    • Provide legal expertise for Planned Giving presentations to parishes and select donor groups
    • Work with Development team to prepare regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with State and Federal statutes
    • Manage relationships with allied legal, financial, and accounting teams                                                                                                                                                                                         

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (preference to Masters, JD or CPA)
    • Broad experience in Estate Planning, Taxes, Wills and Trusts                                          
    • Ability to lead and manage supporting members of development team                  
    •  Strong aptitude in verbal and written communication                                                
    • Flexibility in scheduling- ability to attend Archdiocesan and community events outside typical working hours
    • Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values. Hiring Preference may be given to candidates who are Catholic.

    Preferred:

    • CFRE certification
    • 5+ years in fundraising leadership
    • Strong skills in researching and analyzing data
